Single Cell Analysis

We analyze the response of single cells to chemical and mechanical stimuli by employing various methods for cell trapping, isolation and detection.

Most research focuses on the analysis of large cell populations. These measurements normally involve hundreds to thousands of cells and can only provide an insight into average cell behavior. Although convenient, these measurements obscure cell-to-cell differences, which play a key role in the evolution of cells and can influence the course of diseases or the emergence of drug resistance. We develop new technologies to reveal the status of single cells for diagnostic and research purposes.
